10 Days of Summer

Exhibition Architecture by Pinja Koskelin
3 Days of Design, Copenhagen

10 Days of Summer was presented at 3 Days of Design in Copenhagen in 2025, bringing together a selected group of Finnish designers exploring themes of northern seasons and outdoor living. As exhibition architect, I developed the spatial concept for the exhibition. The resulting spatial structure supported the curatorial concept and framed the works within the historic venue.

The spatial concept draws from the everyday act of drying laundry outdoors, evoking the stillness of Nordic summer days. Repurposed white bedsheets formed the primary architectural material, suspended within a lightweight structure to create a shifting rhythm of light and movement. Guided by circular and low-impact principles, the installation prioritized reused materials, embedding sustainability into both its visual expression and construction logic.

The exhibition was realized in collaboration with curator Anne Blond and the Finnish Cultural Institute in Denmark. The project was supported by the Finnish Cultural Foundation, Huonekalusäätiö and the Asko Foundation.

The exhibition took place at Gammel Strand in Copenhagen, where the interior exhibition architecture was subsequently acquired by the venue.

“One of 3 Days of Design’s most poetic exhibitions was 10 Days of Summer, a collaboration between the Finnish Cultural Institute in Denmark and a group of Finnish or Finland-based designers.”
