Reed Installation

Installation Design and Project Coordination by Pinja Koskelin
BalticReed Fair

A large-scale reed installation was designed and built for the BalticReed fair, exploring the movement, texture, and ecological significance of reed as a spatial material. The work examined how a locally abundant natural material can be translated into architectural form.

Constructed from steel mesh and harvested reed, the installation emphasized lightness, permeability, and organic rhythm. The vertical structure allowed the material to retain its natural character while forming a defined spatial presence.

Materials: steel mesh and reed
Dimensions: 3000 mm (h) × 1500 mm (w)

The installation was designed and built in collaboration with Vilma Vanhanen.

The installation was commissioned by the John Nurminen Foundation.
